Record-breaking Colnago Gioiello Numero 1 sells for 120,650 CHF at Sotheby’s Geneva Luxury Week
Presented alongside magnificent jewels, important handbags & watchesat the Mandarin Oriental Geneva, the most expensive Colnago ever sold,built to celebrate the ongoing Giro d’Italia, went under the hammertoday.
Geneva, Geneva’s Luxury Week, 18 May 2023 - The Colnago GioielloNumero 1, the unique work of art Colnago Gioiello bicycle embellished at thetop of its steering tube by an 18ct gold artefact with a 2.03ct diamondembedded inside, was built to celebrate the 106th Giro d’Italia and to showcaseItalian beauty to the world. The unique work of art was presented alongsidemagnificent jewels, important handbags and watches at the Mandarin OrientalGeneva as part of Sotheby's Geneva Luxury Week. Today, with the auction’s closing, the Colnago Gioiello Numero 1 officiallybecame the most expensive Colnago ever sold, for the record-breaking amount of 120,650 CHF (approx. 135,000 USD / 125,000 €).

The Colnago Gioiello Numero 1 is the most precious piece of the limited editionColnago Gioiello (‘jewel’ in English), of which only 50 pieces have been made.For the realization of this bike, based on the C68 frame, a goldsmith’stechnique of applying gold leaf was used. Partners were involved in thecreation of dedicated components, working alongside Colnago’s designers onspecial decorations, such as the Colnago pattern or the bottle cage inspired bythe shapes of the Trofeo Senza Fine, the iconic symbol of the Giro d’Italia.
To further embellish the artefact, in addition to these already precious details,Colnago has collaborated with a goldsmith’s workshop, creating a real jewel tofit at the top of the steering tube.
